Wybejong Park

In 1991, Greening of Riddell began the long process of rehabilitating the former "Stone Reserve" - a 3 hectare strip of crown land along Riddells Creek.

Through the planting of indigenous species and the removal of weedy species, such as crack willows, Wybejong Park has been returned to an open grassy woodland, providing habitat for native flora and fauna.

This work has been achieved through volunteer labour provided by both Greening of Riddell and other community and school groups, as well as grants from funding bodies such as Macedon Ranges Shire Council, Parks Victoria, Melbourne Water and Port Philip and Westernport Catchment Management Authority.

It is exciting to see that the earlier plantings are now self-seeding, bringing a more natural feel to the park.

With its creekside trail, Wybejong Park is a popular spot for walkers and picnickers.
